KENNEWICK, Wash. -- A man accused of murdering his former fiance's roommate will have to wait even longer to go to trial.

Grant Scantling was in Benton County Court this morning for a status hearing regarding his July 22nd trial date.

Attorneys say that July 22nd date is unrealistic.

Kennewick Police say the 41-year-old shot and killed 24-year-old Franklin Palmer, a man living with his former fiance, Ann Krebs.

Scantling and Krebs have two children together.

The tentative trial date is now set for August 5th. Scantling will appear in court again the week of July 8th.
