TRAFFIC ALERT: City of Yakima to Close Part of I Street for Construction
YAKIMA, Wash. - The City of Yakima says drivers may want to avoid a section of I Street, or expect traffic delays.
The City plans to close I Street between 1st Street and 6th Avenue from Sunday, June 30th through Wednesday, July 3rd.
The City says on Sunday, construction crews will begin preparing the road surface at 6 PM. Then from Monday to Wednesday between 6 AM and 6 PM, crews plan to repair pavement on the roadway that they removed during an industrial wastewater line installation project.
The city says drivers can also expect traffic delays in the area of 1st Street, 5th Avenue, and I Street as the asphalt trucks arrive and leave the project area.
City Utility Engineers say access to homes and businesses in the project area will be impacted, but maintained when possible. Emergency vehicles will be allowed through the project area if necessary.
As always, the schedule for this type of project is subject to change daily dependent on weather,
equipment failure, and emergencies.
