Church Group Makes Donation to Yakima Fire Department
YAKIMA, Wash. - The First Presbyterian Church is reaching out to help the Yakima Fire Department.
The Church donated hundreds of water bottles, sports drinks and energy bars to firefighters Friday morning at the close of its annual Vacation Bible School Summer Camp.
The Fire Department says the timing of the donation is perfect, as a very hot and dry summer fire season is started with a wave of extra high temperatures.
"Beyond giving us the financial support, based on the water
bottles, it's kinda nice knowing that these folks actually support us and
they're looking out for us and it makes the firefighters feel good having this
kind of opportunity," said Yakima Fire Captain Tom Schneider.
say the supplies will last them all year and help them save costs, which is especially important
with the department's tight budget.
