Sunnyside, Wash.-- Friends and family are doing what they can to help the family of a Sunnyside man who was found murdered last week in the trunk of a car.
Volunteers and family members are holding a car wash fundraiser Friday and Sunday in Sunnyside to raise money for the Martinez family. Money from this fundraiser will go toward covering funeral costs and taking care of his newborn baby.
The family is also holding a yard sale and they have set up donation boxes at several stores in Sunnyside and Grandview.
Martinez's sister-in-law is asking people to donate what they can to help the family.
"We are going to be very busy this weekend to cover Alberto's burial costs and to also help out my sister and three kids that my brother-in-law left behind," said Flor Rodriguez.
Martinez died of multiple gunshot wounds to the head last weekend, and two people face second-degree murder charges. They are both being held on $1 million bail each.
The family is trying to raise $6,000 to cover the costs of his funeral and the needs of the family. They have also set up a bank account for the fundraiser at Wells Fargo.
