Rain showers scattered courts across downtown Spokane for most of the morning, and a major downpour hit in the late afternoon postponing most games. Even with all the chaos, Hoopfest 2013 still made it through day one with only a few minor changes.
The qualifier for the slam-dunk contest moved from Saturday afternoon to Sunday morning because of all the rain. The event will begin at approximately 10:00 AM with Cedric Ceballos will still be there to MC the event.
Many of the big games were scheduled to be played on the Nike Center Court at Riverfront Park, but those games had to be moved because a slippery playing surface. Most of those games were played at different locations, and Nike Center Court is expected to be the host site for championship games on Sunday.
In terms of Sunday, the weather shouldn't be a factor. Much like the late afternoon on Saturday, sunshine and no clouds should fill the sky for most of the day Sunday. The KHQ Weather Authority shows a high of 93 degrees for Sunday, so make sure to bring plenty of water and sunscreen out to Hoopfest.
