Heat Wave Maintains It Grip Across Idaho

BOISE, Idaho (AP) - The heat wave blanketing much of Idaho has set a slew of record highs and shows no immediate signs of letting up.
    
Record temperatures were recorded Monday in several Idaho cities, including 106 degrees in Lewiston and 110 degrees in Boise, shattering the previous high for July 1 of 104 degrees in 1924. The all-time high for Boise is 111 degrees.
    
Elsewhere, weather officials issued heat advisories in the north in Coeur d'Alene, the Magic Valley and the east in Idaho Falls where temperatures peaked in the mid-90s, well above the average for early July.
    
Forecasters are predicting more of the same for much of the state Tuesday, with temperatures projected of 103 in Lewiston and 106 in Boise.
    
The cool-down is expected to begin later this week.
