Oregon Governor Orders Flags to Half Staff to Honor Firefighter

Posted: Updated:

PORTLAND, Ore. - Oregon Governor John Kitzhaber has ordered flags at all public buildings to be flown at half-staff on Wednesday in honor of a firefighter from Oregon.

24-year-old West Linn High School graduate, John Percin Junior, was one of 19 firefighters who died Sunday while battling the Arizona wildfire.

The governor says Percin gave his life to protect people, property and natural resources, and all Oregonians should take a moment to remember the man's bravery and sacrifice.
