Water Follies Volunteer Patrol Boat Needed

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash. - Federal budget cuts have forced water follies officials to put out a call for volunteers.

The Coast Guard Auxiliary can't help out as much this year because of sequestration, so organizers need about a dozen more volunteer patrol boats.

The boats make sure people are staying safe around the course and keep swimmers near the shore.

If you're interested, the number to call is 539-0632.

All boats need to be 18 to 23 feet long with a low profile, and have a VHF radio.

Kids 14 years old and older are allowed in the boats.  No alcohol allowed.

All boats must be Coast Guard approved.

You'll get money for gas, free mooring for the weekend and a hat and t-shirt.
