Drunk Driving Crash Causes Fire off Vantage Highway

Posted: Updated:

KITTITAS COUNTY, Wash. - Kittitas County Sheriff Deputies say a 4th of July car crash caused a small fire off Vantage Highway.

Deputies say 27-year-old Chris Newman of Kittitas rolled his car several times near the silage pit at milepost 13, causing the car to catch fire.

Deputies say Newman, who escaped the burning car, may have been drinking, but paramedics took him to the hospital.

Kittitas Valley Fire and Rescue says strong winds spread the fire through the surrounding sagebrush to about seven acres before they put it out.

Deputies say they are working to figure out the cause of the crash.
