Fire Burning North of Pasco Contained

UPDATE: NEAR PASCO, Wash. -- The Franklin County Emergency Management says the wildland fire near Columbia River Road and Fir Road has been contained.

Fire crews will continue to monitor the fire.


NEAR PASCO, Wash. - A wildfire is burning in the area of North Columbia River Road and West Fir Road north of Pasco.

Firefighters say the flames are in rough terrain on the hillsides near the Columbia River.

Multiple houses and other structures have been threatened, but crews have been able to save them so far.

Firefighters from Franklin, Benton and Walla Walla counties are on the scene.

No estimates yet on the size of the fire.

Franklin County is declaring it's Emergency Operations Center operational in response to a wildland fire near Columbia River Road and Fir Road, north of Pasco.

At this time, officials are not recommending any protective actions for the general population, but they are asking citizens to stay away from the fire. 

There are some homes without power right now, and crews are currently working to restore services.
