Posted: Updated:

WALLA WALLA, Wash. (AP) - The remains of an Air Force pilot who died in the Vietnam War are being returned to Walla Walla for burial.

The Defense Department POW-Missing Personnel Office says 26-year-old Maj. Larry J. Hanley was attacking an anti-aircraft position in 1969 in Laos when he crashed. The crash site was found last year, and his remains identified through a genetic match with Hanley's mother and sister.

KVEW reports his remains are being flown to Spokane Thursday and will be taken to Walla Walla for services.

The Union-Bulletin reports (http://bit.ly/13PW0WX ) Hanley's funeral will be Saturday at the Assumption Catholic Church and he'll be buried with full military honors at Mountain View Cemetery in Walla Walla.
