Fernanda Lopez joined NBC Right Now in July 2013 as a reporter and producer. Fernanda is from the San Francisco Bay Area, but is thrilled to call the Tri-Cities her new home.
Fernanda graduated from San Jose State University where she studied journalism with an emphasis in radio and television, and earned her minor in radio, television, and film. GO SPARTANS! While at SJSU, she was also a proud member of Grupo Folklorico Luna y Sol, the university's very own Mexican folk dance group where she had the opportunity to share her culture through music and dance.
While at San Jose State, Fernanda worked on the student run newscast, Update News. She also had the opportunity to intern at Telemundo 48 right alongside NBC Bay Area. After graduation, Fernanda freelanced for El Observador, a local bilingual newspaper where she was able to report to the Spanish speaking community and volunteered for an immigrant rights organization in San Francisco called Educators for Fair Consideration. She is thankful for the opportunities she has been blessed with, including playing the violin in a mariachi band for five years.
Fernanda is excited to learn more about her new community and to share people's stories. If you have a story idea, send her an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
