NBCRightNow.com - The Federal Drug Administration still has a ban against gay and bisexual men donating blood. However, a nationwide grassroots effort hopes to lift that ban.
Friday donation centers and on-site HIV testing units were set up across the country and thousand of gay men gave blood.
The only two events in the northwest were held in Portland and Seattle. Organizers are tallying all the test results and will send those numbers to the FDA to show them the amount of blood that was turned down.
