From Tri-City Dust Devils
The Tri-City Dust Devils offense came alive in the fifth inning as they defeat the Hillsboro Hops 6-4 in front of a sellout crowd of 3,733 at Gesa Stadium on Friday Night.
Dust Devils (12-16) first baseman Sean Dwyer led off the bottom of the fifth inning by blasting the team's first homer at Gesa Stadium of the season. The Dust Devils would tack on four more runs in the fifth inning as they sent 10 batters to the plate.
Johendi Jiminian, the Tri-City starting pitcher, found himself in a jam in both the third and fourth innings but was able to navigate his way out of those innings with only one earned run against him. He finished the evening after 4 2/3 innings, giving up just the one run on six hits with four strike outs.
Left fielder Kyle Von Tungeln, the Papa John's Hit Man of the game, went three-for-four on the night. Since he recorded a hit everyone can head to papajohns.com and type in promo code "dustdevils", where you can buy any pizza and receive a second pizza of equal or lesser value for free. This promo code is valid tomorrow only, Saturday, July 13th, at all Tri-City locations. Thank you, Papa Johns!
Shawn Stuart (2-1) got the win for the Dust Devils. He gave up one run on two hits over 2 1/3 innings.
Hops (8-20) starting pitcher Ben Eckels (1-4) did not allow a runner past first base through four innings, but was pegged with all five Dust Devils runs in the fifth inning, three of which were earned. His night was ended after 4 1/3 innings. He surrendered four Dust Devils hits and walked three batters in a losing effort.
The fourth game of this five game series with the Hillsboro Hops is Saturday night at Gesa Stadium.
