Former Wallowa Co. Deputy Arrested for Shooting Relative

ENTERPRISE, Ore., -- A former Wallowa County Sheriff's deputy is under arrest for shooting and critically injuring a relative over a property dispute.

According to Oregon State Police, 47-year-old Daniel Courtney of Enterprise shot 53-year-old Randy Dickinson of La Grande at least once just after 8 p.m. Sunday night.

The shooting took place at 63885 Williamson Road between Enterprise and Joseph.  Officers from OSP, Union County Sheriff's Office, Enterprise Police Department and OSP SWAT responded to the shooting. 

Courtney stayed at the residence until surrendering to police early Monday morning.

Dickinson was taken to a local hospital and then air-lifted to Saint Alphonus Regional Medical Center in Boise.

Courtney is charged with second degree assault and is booked in the Union County Jail.
