Two Offenders Injured In Altercation At Airway Heights Corrections Center

A fight between two offenders in a vocational program occurred at approximately 1:30 p.m. Monday, July 15 at Airway Heights Corrections Center near Spokane. Each of the offenders suffered non-life threatening injuries that required medical attention.

A fight between two offenders in a vocational program occurred at approximately 1:30 p.m. Monday, July 15 at Airway Heights Corrections Center near Spokane. Each of the offenders suffered non-life threatening injuries that required medical attention. The scene was secured and the incident was quickly contained. Law enforcement immediately responded and is currently investigating the incident.

This isolated incident took place in the prison's medium-security facility, which houses approximately 1,570 offenders. The building where the incident occurred is currently closed, and movement for the medium-security units is modified this afternoon. Visitation and most programming are not impacted as a result of the incident.

The prison's minimum-security facility, which houses 600 offenders, is in full operation.
