UPDATE FROM THE ASOTIN COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE: Based upon available information the Asotin County Sheriff's Office concluded that the injuries sustained to the 62-year-old male with severed genitalia located in the 1400 block of 5th Street in Clarkston, Washington were self-inflicted and mental health issues were a leading factor. 

The Sheriff's Office is not releasing the name of the involved male or information regarding his current medical condition other than his injuries are not life threatening and he is recovering.

UPDATE: Law enforcement officers in Clarkston have discovered a man with severed genitals lying on a street.
    
The Asotin County Sheriff's Office says the 62-year-old man was found about 4:30 a.m. Tuesday and was taken to a hospital in nearby Lewiston, Idaho.
    
Sheriff's Capt. Dan Hally says a portion of the genitalia was also recovered and sent to the hospital for possible reattachment.
    
The identity of the man has not been released by law enforcement.
    
Hally says the incident was not an accident, but there is no danger to the general public. He says law enforcement is not currently searching for a suspect.

CLARKSTON, Wash. - Early Tuesday morning, authorities received a call saying that a naked man was lying in the street near the 1400 block of 5th street.

When first responders arrived, they realized the naked man was actually suffering from a severed penis.

Authorities were able to follow the trail of blood and found the penis about 100 feet away from where the man was laying.

The man was taken to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center to be treated.

KHQ spoke to Dan Hally, Captain of the Asotin County Sheriff's Office and he said authorities are still investigating whether this was a self-inflicted wound or if someone else did this.

It is also not clear yet whether the man was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
