NBCRightNow.com - The National Weather Service issued a Red Flag Warning from central Oregon through the Columbia Basin. It is scheduled to last until Wednesday morning.
Red Flag means thunderstorms are in the area and increases the chances that lightning can combine with wind, heat, and dry conditions to cause fast moving wildfires.
"On a night like this I wouldn't even have a small camp fire or recreational fire even if it's in the rings and all that. It's just not worth the risk, all it takes is one ember to leave that small little fire and hit a neighbor's dry patch and who knows what you could destroy from there," said Benton Co. Fire Dist. 1 Captain Devin Helland.
Tuesday the Franklin County Fire Marshal declared a burn ban until further notice.
NBC Right Now checked with Benton and Yakima but so far Franklin is the only county with an outright ban.
