Fever look to secure arena deal and head coach for 2014

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash. -- Now that the Tri-Cities Fever determined they are sticking around for 2014, they have to settle a couple of major deals, where they are going to play and who is going to coach. Both the Toyota Center deal and head coach Adam Shackleford's contract are up for renewal. But owner and general manager Teri Carr said she is confident both will fall into place.

"Everything is contingent upon having a renewed lease. I don't see that as a problem. We have a great relationship with the building. To me probable it's just going to be a matter of renewing what we have in place. I deal with Coach Shack He wants to be here. We want him here. Again it's probably an easy negotiation right there. So I'm not too worried about one of those. I feel good about them both," Carr said.

"I want to be the head coach for the Tri-Cities Fever," Shackleford responded. "My hope is by August 31 we can agree on a contract that will keep me here for the next several years. Working for the Carrs is a blessing and coaching for this community is an honor."
