BENTON COUNTY, Wash. -- The Benton County Auditor's Office will be mailing primary ballots on Wednesday, July 17th.
Ballots must be postmarked or placed into any official ballot drop box on or before Election Day, which is August 6th. For an online voters' pamphlet, you can visit www.bentonelections.com.
Any ballot that is return through the U.S. Postal Service needs first class postage. Voters also have the option of returning their ballot to any of the seven secure drop boxes throughout the county at no cost. Drop boxes are available 24 hours a day and until 8:00 PM on Election Day.
Benton County Auditor Brenda Chilton anticipates a voter turnout of about 40%, based on historical data and trends.
With several important local offices appearing on some ballots, voters need to return their ballot to nominate their candidate to the General Election in November. In the Primary, the top two candidates will advance, regardless of any party affiliation.
