Sen. Sharon Brown Delivers Meals on Wheels

Posted: Updated:

RICHLAND, Wash.-- Senator Sharon Brown joined the Meals on Wheels program Friday to deliver food to seniors in the Tri-Cities.

Brown visited homes with volunteers that drive from house to house giving seniors balanced meals Monday through Friday.

The state capital budget passed in June, provides additional funding for the program in our region.

"These seniors, some of the contact that they will get will only be from the meals on wheels program. So it's really important we continue to fund these types of efforts. It is primarily a volunteer effort," said Senator Sharon Brown, 8th District.

The Mid-Columbia Meals on Wheels program delivers nearly 150,000 meals a year with the help of hundreds of volunteers.

The program is always looking for volunteers and encourages people to join.
