PREVIOUS COVERAGE:

PRESS RELEASE FROM THE SPOKANE POLICE DEPT: Spokane Police arrested 27-year-old Lillian Sowa on charges of Burglary and Assault.

Sowa is accused of burglarizing Fire Station 3 early Sunday morning after entering the building through an unlocked door, stealing an ax from one of the fire trucks, breaking out two large bay-door windows and trying to escape out the broken window. Sowa was subdued before causing harm to herself or others.

On 07-21-13 at 3:30am Spokane Police responded to a call of a female at Maple/Indiana running into traffic believing people were chasing her.

The female, Lillian Sowa, reportedly ran into the DOC parking lot and broke out the windows of state vehicles, then ran toward Ash St.  She entered an unlocked man door of Fire Station 3 at Maple & Indiana, which was occupied by firefighters at the time.

Sowa climbed into a fire truck and retrieved an ax, then smashed out two large windows in a bay door.

Sowa then tossed bunker gear across the broken hole to get back out. Firemen opened another bay door as officers arrived on scene, and she ran out the door towards police brandishing the ax.

Officers were able to subdue Sowa using a taser application with no harm to her or the responding officers. Sowa was booked to jail Sunday morning for 1st Burglary, 2nd Assault on an Officer and Malicious Mischief.
