Benefit Poker Run for Cancer Victim

Posted: Updated:

Kennewick- Wash.- Motorcycles rode out of Uncle Sam's Saloon this morning to raise money for a good cause. It was part of a benefit poker run for an employee of the popular donut shop Spudnut.

Barb Welch was recently diagnosed with cancer and had to quit her job at Spudnut immediately to start her treatment.

She has worked at Spudnut for over 23 years. And today, her supporters took a motorcycle ride to raise money for her medical expenses.

Her co-worker Sarah Louise came up with the idea and said that she has since received tons of support and sponsorships from people and businesses everywhere wanting to help.

"I worked with her for about a year and she just became one of my favorite people to work with. She's hilarious but recently she had to quit though because of treatment, so we miss her," said Louise

The poker run made stops in Prosser, Plymouth and Finley before returning to Uncle Sam's Saloon in Kennewick where the winners of the run were determined.

Louise also said that all of the profits will go directly to Welch.

This evening there was live music, raffles, food and an auction at Uncle Sam's Saloon.
