RICHLAND- Wash.- Mid-Columbia Pride 2013 wrapped up today after a week of festivities. The week's events were aimed to celebrate and show support for the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community.
Today at John Dam Plaza in Richland, people enjoyed live music, food and various vendors. There were also activities for kids.
Organizers say the Pride celebrations are a chance to bring the entire community together.
"Mainly it's a chance to say to the city of Richland, and the Tri-Cities that there are neighbors and friends and family that are gay and lesbian in the midst. This is not just a big city thing in the East and West coast, gay people are throughout the whole world," said Rev. Janet Pierce
"Tri-Cities is usually conservative and as you can see, we actually have a nice support system here in the community," said Christie Oar, Mid-Colombia Pride 2013 President.
The week's events included a softball game yesterday, a barbecue and even a Miss Gay Columbia Basin Pageant among other activities.
