Time Running Out to Apply for Richland Green Award

RICHLAND, Wash. -People in Richland have until Monday to apply for the city's Green Award.

This is the ninth year the city will hand out the award to a business, company, school, or individual who puts out a notable effort to improve or reduce their impact on the environment.

Past winners include Greenies, US Linen, and Oasis School.

Gail Everett at the Green Living Office says if you or your co-workers or neighbors have done something and are proud of it, let the city know. 

"We find more people are willing to change behavior when they're learning there are other people are doing something as well," Everett says. "It's a learning opportunity. It's a tool to educate, inform and change behavior."

The judges will announce the winner of the Green Award In October.

The winner receives a clock made of recycled bicycle parts.
