Good Turnout at Yakima Summer Concerts

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, Wash.-- The city of Yakima says they're seeing a good attendance numbers for the two new downtown Yakima summer concert series.

Both events are part of a push by the city to bring more people downtown.

The city says they're averaging several hundred people for the "Downtown Summer Nights" series, and more than a thousand people showed up at last week's concert.

"So far, so good. So it's more we're hoping to continue these next year and look at what new events do we create?" says Yakima Economic Development Manager Sean Hawkins.

The city also says its "Lunchtime Live" series averages about 150 people, which is what they were hoping for.

The final goal for the city is to have events happening three or four nights every week in the downtown area.
