Grandview Man Gets 19-Year Prison Sentence for Murder

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, Wash., - A 20-year-old Grandview man was sentenced Tuesday in Yakima to 19 years in prison for gunning down a man described as his nemesis.

Alejandro Guadalupe Martinez pleaded guilty last month to second-degree murder for the December 2011 shooting of 18-year-old Mariano Cuevas in Grandview.

Police said the shooting was the culmination of a series of disputes.  Martinez said Cuevas had insulted his pregnant girlfriend and made a gesture as if he was pulling out a gun.  Martinez was unarmed at the time of the murder.
