Search & Rescue Crews Work Quickly To Find Missing Man

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, Wash. - It took search and rescue crews in the Yakima Valley about nine hours to find a missing man.

Yakima County Sheriff's Office responded to a missing person report in the 100 block of Floral Lane late Wednesday night. The reporting party said her 62 year old brother, who has dementia, had been missing since about 6:15 p.m. She told police he went a walk and never returned.

Search and rescue crews responded with a thermal imaging camera and a K9 air scent dog. They found the man around 4:15 a.m., Thursday, in a raven about ¼ of a mile south east of the residence.

Lower Valley Fire Department personnel and Sunnyside Ambulance help remove the man from the ravine by using a 4x4 fire apparatus. Police say the man appeared to be in good health minus being cold and having some scratches and lacerations to his legs and arms.

The man was reunited with his sister after being checked out by ambulance personnel.  The man did not wish to have his name released to the public.
