KENNEWICK, Wash. - A support group for ovarian cancer survivors needs your help raising money to spread awareness.
The Department of Transportation has given the group Ovarian Cancer Together the go-ahead to decorate the cable bridge in September with teal-colored lights.
The group is hoping to raise awareness during national ovarian cancer awareness month, but to do that, they need to raise $5,000 by Monday, July 29th.
"Teal is our ribbon color for our cancer, and tealing the bridge will give a huge opportunity to reach over 100,000 women that are right here in the Tri-Cities." Said the vice president of the group and an ovarian cancer survivor, Jodi DeCola, "Every time we do any kind of awareness event, it's a chance to save lives."
Organizers say this could be the first time any group has decorated a bridge like this in Washington state.
