Indians Salvage Series With Win Over Canadians

Updated:

The Spokane Indians salvaged the final contest of a three-game set with the Vancouver Canadians with a 2-1 win on Thursday at Avista Stadium.

After being shut out the last two games, the Indians put a run on the board in both the first and second inning. Kevin Torres drove in the first run with a sacrifice fly to score Chris Garia from third and Gabe Roa tripled home Barrett Serrato in the second.

From there, the pitching staff did the rest of the work. Starter Kyle Castro worked five innings of one-run ball, allowing just three hits and two walks while striking out five. In the process of earning his first win, Castro (1-3) lowered his ERA to 8.88.

Ryne Slack worked three scoreless in relief and Michael Zouzalik pitched a clean ninth for his fourth save of the season.
