Mariners Offense Backs Iwakuma In Win

The Seattle Mariners rebounded from their first loss in nine games to beat the Minnesota Twins 8-2 on Thursday at Safeco Field. The Mariners have now won nine of their last 10.

Seattle scored six runs in the second inning to chase Minnesota starter Kevin Correia. Nick Franklin hit a three-run home run in the frame and fellow rookie Brad Miller contributed an RBI double. Mike Zunino and Dustin Ackley both had run-scoring singles in the inning.

Henry Blanco and Dustin Ackley both had RBI doubles in the fifth inning to build Seattle's lead to 8-0.

Hisashi Iwakuma pitched six scoreless innings to improve to 10-4 on the season. The right-hander allowed jsut four hits and one walk while striking out nine.

Danny Farquhar pitched two scoreless innings of relief and Oliver Perez worked the ninth, although he gave up two runs in the frame.
