Sex Offender Release Delayed; Returns to Court in September

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash. -- A man convicted of multiple sexually violent crimes will not be released...yet.

Stephen Robinson, 56, appeared before a judge in Benton County Court Friday morning.  He was scheduled to be released from the State Penitentiary in Walla Walla today but the State Attorney General's office didn't think he should be.

They say he's still a sexually violent predator and is dangerous to the community.

Robinson will be moved to the Special Commitment Center on McNeil Island in western Washington until he appears in court again in Mid-September.
