Franklin Co. Corrections Officer Injured after Inmate Attack

Posted: Updated:

PASCO, Wash. - The Franklin County Sheriff's Department says a corrections officer has been treated and released from the hospital after an inmate attacked him.

Deputies say the inmate, 24-year-old Antonio Davis-Ramos, removed his "suicide smock" and ran naked past another officer, while his cell was momentarily open.

When 41-year-old Officer Justin Husom stepped in to stop him, deputies say Davis-Ramos grabbed a 4 inch key off Husom's belt and tried to stab him with it. Deputies say Davis-Ramos then tried to escape through another door, using the key to open the lock, but it didn't work.

It took five corrections officers to subdue him and get him back into his cell.

Davis-Ramos has been on suicide watch since deputies arrested him for possession of a stolen vehicle earlier this month.

Husom suffered two broken ribs, but the inmate didn't puncture any skin. He was treated and released from the hospital after the incident. Deputies say when he returns to work, he'll work in non-contact position for the time being.
