Catcher Mike Zunino has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a fractured hamate bone in his left hand, the Seattle Mariners announced on Friday. He is expected to miss about six weeks.
Zunino fractured the hamate bone during his RBI single in the second inning of Thursday's game against the Minnesota Twins. The rookie remained in the game before being replaced prior to the fifth inning. He will undergo surgery next week.
Zunino has appeared in 29 game for the Mariners this season, hitting .242 with two home runs and 10 RBIs.
