Boise Rolls Over Indians

A bad start by Yohander Mendez doomed the Spokane Indians in a 9-1 loss to the Boise Hawks on Friday.

Mendez lasted just 2 2/3 innings, allowing six runs on five hits and a walk.

West Coast Conference Co-Player of the Year Kris Bryant delivered a three-run home run for the Hawks in a six-run third. It was Bryant's first home run. Carlos Penalver led the Hawks with three hits, including a double and a triple.

Ryan Cordell's RBI single in the first accounted for Spokane's lone run. The Indians left the bases loaded in the first, though.
