State Mobilization for Wildfire in Chelan County

WENATCHEE, Wash. - State fire assistance has been mobilized under the Washington State Fire Services Resource Mobilization Plan to help firefighters working to contain the Colockum Tarps Fire in Chelan County.

Firefighters say the fire has grown to an estimated 1,000 acres. The fire has already destroyed two a mobile home and another structure. Evacuations are in place for more than 40 homes and cabins in the area.

Two helicopters and an airplane are dropping water and fire retardant on the blaze. About 100 firefighters from Chelan and Douglas counties as well as the Washington Department of Natural Resources are working on the fire. No injuries have been reported.
