Recent Fires Mean More Support Needed For Local Red Cross

Posted: Updated:

KENNWICK, Wash.- The local American Red Cross is dealing with the most emergency support at one time that it's ever had to.

An early morning fire on Saturday in Yakima tore its way through an apartment building on Monroe Avenue. This comes just a week after an apartment building in Pasco caught fire and displaced all of its residents. Our local American Red Cross response has been at an all time high this week. They've set up shelters and they're helping to get these people back on their feet, but they need your help.

"The need is always there," explained Kathye Kilgore of the American Red Cross. "We never know when an incident is going to happen so we want to be ready to respond appropriately. We've got resources, we know the community's very generous and this is that call to the community to say, 'We need your help!'"

The best way to help our local Red Cross chapter is by calling them at 509-783-6195 and setting up a monetary donation.
