Congressman Hastings Meets With Richland Rotary

Posted: Updated:

RICHLAND, Wash.- The Richland Riverside Rotary Club invited a special guest speaker to their luncheon today. Congressman Doc Hastings (R) met with the group to talk about what he's working on in D.C.

Today's topics included what he calls over spending on the study of Blatterpods and opening up public access to Rattlesnake Mountain. Nationally, Hastings says Detroit is an example of what many American cities are heading toward if something isn't done about over spending and debt. He also talked about health care reform and its impact on taxpayers.

"First of all I am opposed to Obama Care," said Hastings. "I voted against it, I voted to repeal it and I voted over 30 times to repeal parts of it. I think it's a terrible law that will hurt our economy in the long run."

When we asked what he's most focused on right now, Hastings told us the preservation of Hanford's B Reactor will be his next big push.
