SEATTLE, Wash. - The Washington State Transportation Commission has voted to rename the Skagit River Bridge for the State Trooper who died while detouring traffic after the bridge collapsed.
Tuesday, the commission voted to rename the bridge the "Trooper Sean M. O'Connell Jr. Memorial Bridge" as requested by lawmakers from the 40th legislative district, the chief of the State Patrol local governments.
Transportation Commission Chairman Dan O'Neal says the decision was unanimous and enthusiastic.
