FIRST ON KHQ: Beach Fire Spreads To Timber Near Mica Bay
UPDATE: Doubletree fire near Mica Bay in CDA is now 100% contained. Crews will remain on scene throughout the night. They hope to begin the mop up phase Wednesday morning.
Fire officials on scene of what is now being called the Double Tree Fire near Mica Bay in Coeur d'Alene say they have the fire about 60% contained and hope to have 100% containment sometime Tuesday night.
We are told the fire began as a beach fire that got out of control and quickly spread to the woods above the beach. Homes were threatened at one point, but crews have managed to get a line around the fire and prevent it from spreading to any homes.

KHQ Local News reporter Patrick Erickson is heading to Coeur d'Alene where firefighters are on scene of a fire burning near Mica Bay. As he exited I-90 in Coeur d'Alene he said he could see a lot of smoke in the area of Mica Bay.
Officials say this is a three-alarm fire that is threatening several lake homes. Right now officials say the fire is about 5 acres in size and there is a helicopter out assisting in the fight.
