Arraignment for Man Shot by KPD Delayed Two Weeks

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash. -- A man who pointed a gun at a Kennewick police officer last month was scheduled to appear in court Wednesday morning but did not.

Officers ended up shooting 26-year-old Dennis Skellenger in the chest June 15th.

They say he tried to run from police after trying to return merchandise to the AutoZone in Kennewick with a stolen credit card.  Skellenger is charged with attempting to elude the police and 3rd degree assault; both are felonies.

Harborview Medical Center says Skellenger was released from the Seattle hospital earlier this month but returned Sunday. Skellenger is now set to appear in court August 15th for arraignment.
