Mariners Lose Heartbreaker To Boston In 15

Updated:

The game started in July and ended in August. By the time Seattle and Boston finally finished the marathon of a game at Fenway Park on Wednesday, the Red Sox walked off with a 5-4 win over the Mariners.

Stephen Drew ended the five-hour affair with a bases loaded single off of Lucas Luetge to score Dustin Pedroia. The game extended past midnight and saw the calendar flip from July to of August.

Luetge, the sixth Mariners pitcher of the night, worked 2 2/3 innings, but walked four. Drake Britton was the winning pitcher, after scattering three hits in two innings.

Kyle Seager hit his 17th home run of the season, a solo shot, in the eighth inning to tie the game, 4-4. Seager had three of the Mariners 16 hits, as did Kendrys Morales, who was taken out in the 11th for a pinch runner.
