Lane Closures Planned at the I-82 / Yakima Avenue Interchange

Posted: Updated:

YAKIMA, Wash. – Yakima drivers can expect some delays overnight Wednesday and Thursday on East Yakima Avenue through the Interstate 82 interchange.

Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction on E. Yakima Avenue through the interchange from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. July 31 and Aug. 1 while crews grind existing pavement.

Drivers can expect minor delays due to single lanes and flagging at the intersections. Traffic signals will be temporarily set on a fixed time schedule until new pavement is placed in late August and crews can reinstall the sensors in the roadway.

The Washington State Department of Transportation and contractor crews are repaving all lanes of I-82 between Selah and Union Gap. In addition, crews are repaving Yakima Avenue and the ramps at the Yakima Avenue / I-82 Interchange. This project is scheduled to be complete mid-September.
