Pasco Man Drowns While Body Surfing in Oregon

Posted: Updated:

LINCOLN CITY, Ore. - Oregon State Police are investigating after a Pasco man drowned in the ocean off a Lincoln City-area beach.

Officers say Wednesday evening Kerry Bamford, 56, was body surfing in the ocean with friends along the beach in the 3800 block of SW Highway 101 in Lincoln City. One of his friends told investigators he was trying to swim back about 100 yards from shore when they lost sight of him.

Rescue crews sent two jet skis into the water and found Bamford unresponsive about 200 yards from shore. Crews began CPR on shore and he was transferred to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
