Transportation Dept. Ends Pilot Car Operations on US 97

Posted: Updated:

GOLDENDALE, Wash. - The Washington State Department of Transportation has pulled the pilot car operation along US 97 from Toppenish to Goldendale.

The speed limit remains at 40 mph from the Satus Creek Bridge to Timmer Lane.

Earlier in the week, the DOT previously told drivers to expect hour long delays during the pilot car operations on a 7-mile stretch from the Yakima/Klickitat County line to Satus Pass.

The highway reopened on July 31st. It had been closed for a week because of fire dangers.
