RICHLAND, Wash.-- The 19th annual Partners N Pals horseback riding event Friday brought smiles to the faces of 150 children and young adults with disabilities.

The ARC of Tri-Cities and CH2M Hill partner to put on the event, which gives the participants a chance to ride a horse and enjoy games and a petting zoo.

Volunteers say the fun experience opens up the riders and brings out their personalities.

"We had one little boy earlier today that he just didn't want to get on the horse and he got on the horse. We made four consecutive laps from being scared and afraid to total elation when he got off. It was fantastic," said Mike Jennings, volunteer.

100 volunteers spent their day helping the kids and say they come back year after year for the popular event.
