WEST RICHLAND, Wash- Last month we reported the proposed rezoning of a lot on Austin Drive in West Richland from residential to commercial that had many locals angry.
Citizens protested and voiced their opinions about possibly turning the lot into a hardware store at the City Council meeting, but that didn't change the minds of the council who voted to rezone the lot unanimously. Now those West Richland residents have told us they've filed an appeal with the Benton County Superior Court.
"To come into a residential neighborhood without addressing Van Giesen and change a residential neighborhood to commercial is just creating a whole new problem," said Daniel Richey from Citizens For Smart Growth.
The residents also tell us they've served the city with a notice of appeal and will serve various other entities involved this weekend.
