NBCRightNow.com - Crime victims and community members can keep tabs on Washington state inmates through a new mobile app.
It's called VINEMobile and it will send alerts when an offender's custody status changes; such as being released, transferred or if the offender dies.
This information has been online since 2007, but the new app will make it easier for people to get updates in an instant.
"Technology has evaluated and the company that's providing this service is evolving with that to make it more readily available and accessible to the public," said Franklin County Sheriff Richard Lathim.
Users can register for round-the-clock phone, email or text updates.VINEMobile is free and available for Android and Apple devices.
