National Night Out 2013

Posted: Updated:

KENNEWICK, Wash.-- Tuesday night is National Night Out, a nationwide event where people can learn about their city government and crime prevention.

In Kennewick at the Southridge Sports Complex, the Family Walk included information booths about the city and law enforcement.

Kids games and free burgers made it a family friendly event and Kennewick police say it's all about getting to know your community.

"We're having a community-wide event so this evening we have the opportunity to get people together, learn a little about their neighbors, about crime prevention and also a little about their city," said Mike Blatman, Kennewick Police Department.

In Richland at Howard Amon Park, officers showed off the bomb squad robot and other gear.

More games, a live band and free hot dogs brought families together.
