Richland Holds Grand Re-Opening at Claybell Park

RICHLAND, Wash.- City park workers, little league team members, and elected legislators attended Thursday's grand opening of Claybell Park.

The 50-acre park has undergone a million-dollar expansion that includes four new tennis courts, playing fields for football, soccer, and lacrosse, a new restroom, walking trails, and additional parking.

Richland Park and Recreation Director Joe Schiessl says the renovation has been a long time coming.

"The area around the park has been growing and we have the need for more multi-purpose sports fields,' Schiessel says. "So the stars lined-up with some grant proposals that were available and some funds that we had, and it was time to expand Claybell Park."

The park is located on Broadmoor Street off Leslie Road, adjacent to the Amon Preserve.
